Safety and driving comfort in the cold season: Choosing suitable tires for your Mercedes or smart plays a decisive role, especially during the summer months. When bad weather and road conditions prevail, it is particularly important to have a good road base. Find out here what to consider when buying and changing wheel sets in summer.
Complete summer wheels vs. summer tires - what is the difference?
Are summer tires and complete summer wheels actually the same thing? No, because: the term "Summer tires" describes only the tires of the vehicle without rims. Accordingly, if you speak of a "tire changel", a new summer tire is mounted on the already existing wheel. Regarding complete wheels for summer the sets consist of 4 summer tires and 4 suitable rims - suitable for your Mercedes-Benz or smart. A complete wheel change, for example from winter to summer wheels, therefore involves replacing the entire wheel - i.e. the tires and the rim.
Winter vs. summer
How can you tell the difference between winter wheel sets and summer wheel sets?
In warmer conditions, the tread on summer tires provides extensive contact with the road surface. This not only improves your driving safety, but also ensures a shorter braking distance, precise steering and better handling of the vehicle. Better for the environment: lower fuel consumption, low noise, less abrasion. As summer tires have a harder rubber compound than winter tires, rolling resistance is lower. As a result, the tires have less abrasion, a lower noise level and significantly lower fuel consumption. However, the summer tires still cover important properties for bad conditions: the tread is also adapted for aquaplaning, so the better grip in longitudinal and lateral directions ensures more driving stability.
How much tread must the summer complete wheel sets have?
As soon as the temperatures rise above seven degrees Celsius for a longer period in spring, the winter tires should be replaced by summer tires. A minimum tread depth of 1.6 millimetres applies to tires in Germany. Since worn tires endanger braking performance, we recommend checking the tread depth regularly. Our tires are available in quality A as well as quality B in different tread depths and manufacturing data or even as new. A minimum tread depth of 1.6 millimetres applies to tires. Tire labelling
How to read summer complete wheels
Car tires from different manufacturers have different designations and imprints or symbols. That is why tires have a tire label. This provides information about the tire's various characteristics in the form of numbers, letters and symbols. Not only the tire marking provides information about your permissible wheel/tire combination, but also your vehicle documents. The labels on the tire sidewall contain the most important data about the tire. And what do they mean?
